The top of the
line in doctor bags, a Schell Emdee with beautifully supple leather and
working lock with two original keys. This bag has never been used, we
even have the original shipping container from the factory, shipped in
1982 to a doctor in Oklahoma City. Unfortunately the doctor was never
able to use it and we managed to buy it from his estate. It has all the
wonderful qualities of the Emdee bags that were produced for decades and
were always the very best. Two large divided compartments with snap-lock
covers are inside, one set on each side. An adjustable strap with
several loops for holding bottles and instruments is in the bottom of
the bag. Two well made plastic boxes lined with foam rubber and stamped
with Schell's name are included. Presumably these were to be used to
hold delicate instruments. Schell made the very best doctor bags using very good leather and
solid brass or nickel hardware. One design feature in particular that made their bags so long-lasting
- their method of mounting the handles with metal ends connected to metal
rings instead of leather-to-metal as other bag makers did. This
bag would make an excellent gift for a serious collector or a med student
(one we sold went to a doctor in California who is now using it
to make house calls!).
