This is one of the very
few touring car
trunks we've found in years. It was made by the Duluth Trunk Company
sometime in the 1920s. This
beautiful trunk was meant for the back of a large Packard, Studebaker or
other brand touring car. To
find an automobile trunk in decent condition is rare these days but to find
one with the maker's label is very rare. Trunks, like nearly everything else,
had to adapt to the coming of the automobile and here's one of the best
examples. Eventually car
manufacturers made the trunk an integral part of the car and these wonderful
bits of history started to disappear so today they're more difficult to find
than the automobiles. Note the brass maker's label. This trunk is all original; we've only
cleaned and preserved it. The inside of the trunk is lined with the
original linen material that is in good condition. We found this
one in MN. It dates back to the 1920s.
By the way, you don't
necessarily need a '20s car to enjoy a trunk like this; one car trunk
we sold ended up on the back of a PT Cruiser and the owner was ecstatic. If
you like it as well as we do then call us now, toll-free on 1-877-653-8786
