New Lining
When we find a flat top trunk covered in
canvas, the first thing we must decide is whether the canvas is good enough
to leave on or must it come off. Must we sacrifice part of the the history
of the trunk to make the trunk look beautiful again? The choice for this one
was easy since the outside fabric was still in very good condition. We cleaned
it well and resealed the canvas. The grain in the hardwood staves turned out
beautifully. We've replaced the leather handles with new double-stitched ones,
the straps & keepers with genuine leather ones and brass roller buckles, and
of course the new lining. The leather straps are finished off nicely with
keeper/knees at the bottom. These serve to hold the ends of the straps and
reinforce the joint between the bottom and the front of the trunk. This beauty is a
fairly large flat
top with plenty of storage space inside and it will make a great coffee table or end table, fitting into just
about any decor. We found this one in Ohio while on another trunk-hunting
expedition. Flat tops don't stay here long so give us a call, toll-free on 1-877-653-8786 or email us at

professionally packed and on its way to your home within hours.
