Flat Top With the
Blues
When we
start cleaning a trunk like this we hold our breath for the first few minutes while we see
just how much of the paint has penetrated the canvas. Fortunately very little had done so
on this flat top. After a lot of hard work the trunk turned out as below.
(After) Many hours of restoration
After all
the paint and canvas were removed it was evident that this trunk originally had leather
straps (easy to see by the nail hole patterns).
