Some of the most beautiful Victorian trunks are doll trunks. They were made for little girls to store and carry their doll clothes. Many are still being made round the world today but the true Victorian beauties are becoming extremely rare. Collecting doll trunks has become a hobby all its own. Here are some of the miniatures that we've restored. Please note that all of the doll trunks below are EXAMPLES. They are in a private collection and NOT FOR SALE.

Western Squares paper was all the rage in the 1870s and continued for several years both on regular size trunks and doll trunks. It's an extremely rare find in either size with all the original paper on the trunk. 13" wide x 8" front to back x 8" tall |

Note that without a reference for the eye it's impossible to tell that this is an exact miniature and not one of its big sisters. This beautiful little dome top also has a tray and wonderful lithograph artwork of a little girl sitting on a fence. 14" wide x 10" front to back x 11" tall

In over 30 years of working with antique doll trunks, this is the only example we've ever seen of this type of finish on any size trunk. As you move around this little jewel, or move a light around it, the reflections change colors. 11" wide x 7" front to back x 5" tall

Doll trunks were made by some companies with a dual purpose, to entertain little girls and impress big girls. Here is a wonderful example of some made by the Mendel-Drucker Trunk Company in Cincinnati, OH. 17" wide x 10" front to back x 11" tall

Same style trunk with different lining and exterior covering. We never imagined we would find two doll trunks of this type, especially in such nice condition and complete with the labels. Note the use of two separate linings in this one. 17" wide x 10" front to back x 11" tall

This style doll trunk was very popular from around 1913. It came with different versions of trim. The trim on this one has a gold colored background. The background metal was almost always black. The tray is original but the lining is new since nearly all of the original was gone when we found it. 11" wide x 7" front to back x 7" tall

Mendel-Drucker Wardrobe Doll Trunk
This is the only wardrobe doll trunk we've ever had like this. It is an exact replica of a full-sized Mendel-Drucker wardrobe trunk just "Like the Big Ones We Make for Mother". It's complete with five miniature hangers, a presser bar (to hold the garments in place so they don't get "mussed"). The wardrobe section even slides out like the full-sized ones. 26" wide, 21" tall and 5" deep (front to back when opened).
